How to Play Crystal Singing Bowls

Congratulations, you’re now the owner and soon-to-be player of this luminous, beautiful Crystal Singing Bowl! These high vibrational singing bowls are tuned to frequencies within the human body to assist you in aligning your energy centers (Chakras).

To produce a full, smooth tone that blends with powerful universal harmonies, it’s best to start slowly (if this is your first experience with singing bowls) to practice your technique. When Premium Classic Frosted Singing Bowls are played the correct technique, the vibrations bring you to a place of peace and grounding, promoting complete wellness in body, mind and spirit.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ
If you hear any chatter noises or if the sound dies off while you're playing, then stop immediately as appropriate pressure is not being applied. Chatter and over-vibration can cause the bowl to shatter.

1. Choose a quiet space. A peaceful environment will help sustain the vibrations of your singing bowl.

2. Clear your mind with the intentions of clearing it of all unwanted energies.

3. Set your intentions.
Examples include:
• I intent to release anything blocking me from creating abundance
• I connect to my intuition clearly and without judgment
• I release all stress and pressure inhibiting my well-being

4. Grasp the striker like a pencil, so the striker is perpendicular to the arm.

Hold your striker at an approximate 30-degree angle to the outside of the bowl.

5. Now, lightly tap the outside rim of the bowl 3 times and immediately begin to circle or guide the striker around the corner of the outside edge of the rim.

6. Add more effort a little at a time. You'll find the bowl's "sweet spot" for rim singing and tapping if you gently increase your effort a little at a time. The bowl’s sweet spot will generate a tone that will continue to “sing” even after you stop playing.

Take special care to maintain firm and constant pressure. If you hear any chatter noises or if the sound dies off while you're playing, stop immediately as appropriate pressure is not being applied.
Remember: Practice makes perfect.
If you’re having trouble producing a solid tone, re-read these instructions, take a deep breath, and try again.

7. If you prefer to gong your bowl by striking, then lightly use the suede side. We also have rubber mallets designed specifically for Crystal Singing Bowls that work best as a gong tool and can even be used to sing the bowls.

Good to Know

Please play gently.
• The bowl will create a full and sustained tone with a gentle pressure at the right angle.

• Overly intense vibrations created by playing the bowl too loudly or too close to another bowl may cause the bowl to shatter. We do not warranty any bowl resulting from bowl shatter.

• Always use a ring on a flat surface to stabilize your bowl.

• Avoid hitting the bowl hard with the striker as it could crack. We've seen this happen.

• During rim singing, don't allow your bowl to over modulate by playing too loud. This can also crack the bowl. You'll know when this happens as the vibrations will increase in intensity and the singing sound will become screechy.

• Take care not to drop the striker into the bowl.

• Do not put the bowl in the dishwasher to clean.

• Be mindful of how close the bowls are to one another when playing. Place your bowls a few inches apart.

• Please don't put your head in the bowl when it’s playing.
